Every year, 300 million of our city dollars are funneled
through β€œghost cops,” or historically vacant CPD positions,
into police overtime abuse, police misconduct settlements, and a
mystery slush fund that the police department can use as it pleases.

All of this money could and should be going into
public mental health clinics, opportunities for youth,
non-police crisis response, childcare, healthcare, and transit.

Instead, city leaders choose to continue to throw money at CPD
(which received $2.1 billion not including equipment, technology,
and fringe benefits in 2025) while complaining about the β€œfiscal
responsibility” and β€œdebt” crises that make spending on programs
that actually increase community safety and thriving β€œtoo expensive.”

We do not consent to increasing the
funding, discretion, power, or legitimacy
of the uniformed gangs that terrorize,
kidnap, and murder our neighbors.

We do not consent to bestowing them with
the ability to impose unnecessary arbitrary
curfews that allow them to harass and
deny youth their right to the city.

We do not consent to having our
movements in public space recorded
and reported to them at their request.

We do not consent to living under the
boot of the police state or being
represented by its fascist lawmakers.
